Tete SOS Social Centre
The SOS Social Centre, Tete opened in 2004 to help orphaned and vulnerable children and their families, building on the work of the SOS Kindergarten that was already helping young children from the local community with a so-called bush kindergarten. This programme was supported by the World Food Programme. With the support of the local communities, the SOS Social Centre has established three more bush kindergartens. These provide basic education, food and medicine for more than 500 orphaned and vulnerable children. In addition the SOS Social Centre has provided help for families at risk from HIV/AIDs related illness and training for home-based care, working in conjunction with the Ministry of Health
