Makalle SOS Medical Centre

The SOS Medical Centre, Makalle provides medical services to the local community. These include minor surgery, family planning and ante- and post-natal clinics. The clinic is run mainly by a senior nurse and laboratory assistant on a full-time basis, with help from the teachers at the local nursing school. More than 6000 treatments are carried out by the centre each year. Short courses in health education are also given to more than 7000 people. The centre trained young people from the community in various aspects of health education. This was done in collaboration with Tigray Regional Health Bureau.
